ALL QUIET
It’s quiet in the desert
no sound but my pencil
as I wait for you to quaff
my thirst. Alone I recognise
you as the one who asks but
not for thee but our child’s
happiness.
It does not matter that you
are repugnant to animals like my own
that antler their way into
the forest without asking for
reach, just to feel it is
enough to make me want to
shout for joy.
