COMING OFF DRUGS
I wonder what you say when I tell
you that all is not as it seems.
I laugh when you tell me of your
downer but I laugh a lot
at things like that.
You know not
what true medications can do
to you.
How they can effect your mind
as truly as acid, as terminally as heroin
as fast as cocaine.
Bang!
Your face hits the ground, blood spurts
bright red in the disco lights of morning
bright black in the blue lights
of the flashing cars.
Side effects come from above
not below, they seem to think
God’s gift to a doctor of medicine
who have four years study
to effect the world with digital
science.
